Volunteer FAQ

How do I volunteer at The CareGivers?

To begin volunteer at the CareGivers, please contact our volunteer coordinator. A CareGivers employee will collect all the necessary information required and discuss available opportunities!

What is the minimum age needed to volunteer?

Typically, the minimum age to volunteer at the CareGivers is 16, but volunteers under the age of 16 are eligible to volunteer if accompanied by a parent, guardian or chaperone.

When can I volunteer?

Most CareGivers volunteer activity occurs during our normal business hours: 9:00AM to 3:00PM. However, volunteer opportunities are available after hours on certain days each month.

Do I need to schedule in advance or can I just show up?

Volunteers must schedule volunteer hours in advance to assure all necessary paperwork is complete and volunteer tasks are set up. To schedule volunteer hours just contact our volunteer coordinator.

What should I wear when I volunteer?

Dress code varies upon volunteering opportunity. Warehouse volunteers must have on secure footwear that covers the toes and top of the foot. Closed-toe shoes are required, no exceptions. Please dress comfortably, but nothing excessively torn or inappropriate. Volunteers who will be loading cars and delivering groceries to homebound seniors should prepare for the weather outside as well.

Do you accept court-ordered volunteers?

Yes - The CareGivers accepts court-ordered volunteers on a case by case basis. Please see our court-ordered community service policy. If you have any questions please contact our volunteer coordinator with any questions.

Is there a required volunteer schedule?

Nope! We are happy to provide flexibility! We know many volunteers have busy schedules and volunteer when their schedule allows. Volunteers will always be warmly welcomed.

Can the CareGivers accommodate large groups?

Yes – The CareGivers is happy to accept large groups of volunteers!

Is there a conference room available that my group can use for lunch and reflection?

Yes – we do have conference rooms available for use! Just let the volunteer coordinator know and we will reserve a room for you.

What if something comes up and I cannot attend my volunteer shift?

ADon’t worry, things come up. Just please let the volunteer coordinator know as soon as possible so we can work to fill your shift!

Is there a possibility to volunteer remotely?

Yes, we provide services that a portion can be done over the phone remotely.
